How to prepare a Linux Emergency boot disk

Insert a floppy

You need to know your kernel version and insert it in the mkbooodisk command

To find out what kernel version, you can do either one of the following:

# ls -l /lib/modules/

total 4

drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Apr 23 2005 2.4.3-20mdk/

or type

[root@venus /root]# uname -r


Then run the following command

mkbootdisk –device /dev/fd0 2.4.3-20mdk

after that reboot your system.
