MAKING A BACKUP OF HOME DIRECTORY USING MKISOFS

Now that you can blank a disc, let,’s make a backup copy of your home directory by using the mkisofs command.

Firstly, change directory to /tmp (you can choose other directory)

cd /tmp

Create an image file of your home directory by using the mkisofs command

#mkisofs -r -o home-dir.img /home/guru2b

This may take some time.

Then once its completed, with a blank disc in your tray, burn the image file to disc by typing:

cdrecord dev=0,0,0 -v -data home-dir.img

This too may take some time. After it has completed, veryfy the contents of the disc.

ll /mnt/cdrom

You can see that your disc hold the backup copy of your home directory.
